A day here

How a child spends the day

Each part of the day follows the children.

  1. 01
    Early morning

    Step 1: Arrival

A teacher meets each child at the room door. There is time for a hug, for a backpack on its hook and for a first look at the toys.

  2. 02
    Mid-morning

    Step 2: Circle time

A song, a short Bible story and the calendar. The youngest children listen from a lap or a mat.

  3. 03
    Late morning

    Step 3: Play and learning

Blocks, books, paint and play dough, in the room or on the playground, at each child's pace.

  4. 04
    Around noon

    Step 4: Snack and lunch

A blessing, then lunch at the table with the teacher. Children serve themselves and pour their own water.

  5. 05
    After lunch

    Step 5: Rest

Babies sleep on their backs, in their own cots, with nothing else in the cot. Older children rest on mats, and anyone who doesn't sleep looks at books.

  6. 06
    End of the day

    Step 6: Pickup

A teacher hands each child to you at the door and tells you how the day went. We ask for ID from anyone we don't know.

Lunch at the table

Children serve themselves family style, and the teacher sits with them. A sample week might be baked chicken with rice, black beans and fruit, or pasta with vegetables. Tell us about any allergy at the tour.

  • A morning snack, lunch and an afternoon snack

  • A blessing before lunch

  • Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask again in private once you enroll

Out in the yard

On most days there is time outside, with hats and shade. The children dig in the sandbox, ride tricycles and run in the fenced yard, and the youngest explore with a teacher beside them.

  • Hats and sunscreen in the yard

  • Water to drink at every turn

  • Sand and tricycles for the Twos, Threes and Fours
